Shopko's mobile pharmacy app builds following

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Shopko reports that pharmacy customers are embracing its mobile application to help manage their prescriptions.

The retailer said Tuesday that more than 1,000 prescriptions a day are being refilled via the Shopko mobile pharmacy app, introduced last year, and that number is rising fast.

Shopko's mobile app enables customers to refill prescriptions, receive pickup and dosage reminders, and access a complete view of their health information. Customers can also sign up at the pharmacy counter for a text-messaging option to receive many of the same benefits as the app, the company said.

"Our customers appreciate how easy it is to manage their health and prescription needs from their mobile device," Mike Bettiga, interim chief executive officer and chief operating officer of Shopko, said in a statement. "Since Shopko launched its mobile pharmacy solution in 2012, thousands of customers have been using their mobile phones to interact with our pharmacies in a way that works best and is most convenient for them."

The Shopko app can be downloaded free through the app marketplaces or from the retailer's website. The app and its mobile website, https://m.skopharm.com, operate on a secure network developed by mscripts, a San Francisco-based provider of mobile pharmacy solutions.

Shopko and mscripts noted that greater interaction between pharmacies and their patients fosters adherence to prescription regimens and improves customer satisfaction.

"Shopko's customers have embraced the idea of using text messaging and mobile apps to manage their health information," stated mscripts CEO Mark Cullen. "It is commonplace for customers to use their mobile phones to refill on time, to remember to take medications, and to share information about their prescriptions with their care providers."

Earlier this month, Shopko

finished the conversion of its acquired Pamida stores

to the Shopko Hometown format, which has a pharmacy. The retailer now has almost 300 pharmacy locations in more than 20 states. Its formats include 134 Shopko stores, five Shopko Express Rx drug stores, 17 Shopko Pharmacy locations and 176 Shopko Hometown stores.
