Lay's Wavy gets new flavor, new look

April 16th, 2013

PLANO, Texas – Frito-Lay North America has extended its Lay's Wavy potato chip line with the introduction of Lay's Wavy Garlic & Sea Salt.

The PepsiCo snack subsidiary said the new Lay's Wavy Roasted Garlic & Sea Salt potato chips will be available in stores nationwide this month in a 9.5-ounce bag for a suggested retail price of $4.29.

Plans call for single-serve sizes to become available for a limited time at participating retailers starting in the summer.

"Garlic is a tried-and-true flavor, one our consumers have loved for decades," stated Jennifer Saenz, senior director of marketing at Frito-Lay. "With Lay's Wavy Garlic & Sea Salt, we've brought the popular flavor back with a sophisticated sea salt twist – for an entirely new ridged potato chip taste experience that can be enjoyed with a favorite dip or straight from the bag."

In tandem with the rollout of Lay's Wavy Roasted Garlic & Sea Salt chips, the Lay's Wavy brand also is introducing revamped packaging across the entire product line.

Frito-Lay noted that the redesign marks the first packaging change in the product line's 20-year history. The company said the new Lay's Wavy chip bags will offer a more modern look and feel, with vibrant colors and a font that reflects the brand's playful image to better appeal to its target female consumer.
