Navarro pushes e-commerce

MIAMI – Navarro Discount Pharmacy has added e-commerce capabilities to its Navarro.com website, enabling customers outside south Florida, nationwide and internationally to take advantage of the value proposition in its stores.
“The e-commerce capability allows us to better serve our loyal customers already familiar with the Navarro brand and its discount pricing and, in addition, reach out to the growing Hispanic population in the United States, Central/South America, the Caribbean and internationally,” explains chief financial officer Juan Ortiz.
Besides online prescription management tools already available, Navarro.com now will sell products across a wide variety of categories, including fragrances, over-the-counter products, health, beauty, appliances, household items and food, as well as a large assortment of niche, difficult-to-find Hispanic products.
Enhancements to Navarro.com scheduled to roll out in the fall include an interactive social media retail forum, video and rich media content on family and health-related topics, and product reviews.
“Navarro has been a pioneer in Miami in the Hispanic community for over 50 years,” says Emilio Yepez, director of e-commerce for the chain. “Once again we have emerged as a pioneer online by offering an extensive array of products not found elsewhere targeted to Hispanics of all ethnic backgrounds and ages.”
Online orders are processed through Navarro’s fulfillment center in Miami. Navarro points out that over the years it has received repeated requests to ship its products to such regions as New York, Texas and California and as far west as Alaska.
