Take Care Clinics renamed by Walgreens

DEERFIELD, Ill. – Healthcare Clinic is the new name for Walgreen Co.’s in-store clinics, replacing the Take Care Clinic name that has stood since the brand’s inception in 2004.

A national rebranding for the chain’s more than 370 clinics is expected to be complete by the end of the month.

Besides the changes that are taking place in stores, consumers will be directed to walgreens.com/clinic, Healthcare Clinic’s new website.

Heather Helle, divisional vice president of Walgreens’ consumer solutions group, said the move was undertaken “to bring together a more seamless health care experience and align all of our health care assets under one brand identity and umbrella.

“As customers and patients are searching for health care services at Walgreens, we can bring a more unified and simpler approach by putting things under one brand within one place, whether in stores or at walgreens.com.”

Take Care Health Systems LLC will remain a subsidiary of Walgreens as well as the practice management company for the Healthcare Clinics at selected Walgreens outlets.

Healthcare Clinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants are part of a network of more than 70,000 health care professionals across Walgreens stores, Walgreens Infusion Services, Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy and other lines of business.

Other recent health initiatives, such as the formation of accountable care organizations, clinical affiliations and expansion of Medicare Part D programs, help advance the company’s mission to transform the role of community pharmacy by providing more comprehensive care options, delivering a differentiated patient experience and solidifying Walgreens’ position as a strategic partner of choice.

“We have embarked upon creating a health and daily living destination,” said Helle. “As part of that, we are very focused on delivering an extraordinary customer experience.”

Healthcare Clinics will continue to offer the same affordable and convenient services, with a focus on prevention, wellness and the monitoring and management of chronic conditions. Walgreens plans to increase its number of clinics by at least 10% a year.

“We’re excited about the rebranding,” Helle commented. “We’re very focused on the purpose we have at Walgreens, and that’s helping people to get, stay and live well. Our clinics play a central role in that because we seek to provide services to people in the communities in which we operate.”

Dr. Jeffrey Kang, Walgreens’ senior vice president of health and wellness services and solutions, said: “The new Healthcare Clinic allows us to leverage the strength of the Walgreens brand to help attract and introduce new patients to our retail clinic services.
“The health care landscape is evolving, and with a diverse and expansive collection of assets, Walgreens is uniquely positioned to play an integral role in addressing the needs of patients, payers and providers by helping to lower costs to the system.”
