CDMA names Fruth's Messick senior VP

September 13th, 2010

NOVI, Mich. – Fruth Pharmacy veteran Bob Messick has joined the Chain Drug Marketing Association (CDMA) as the organization’s senior vice president, a new position.

At Fruth, Messick most recently served as president and chief operating officer.

“Bob’s past retail experience with Fruth Pharmacy for 28 years will be a positive addition to our CDMA staff,” comments association president Jim Devine. “Bob has also served on the CDMA board of directors and CDMA strategic planning committee. His knowledge from having served in these positions will be a great asset to CDMA.”

Messick’s responsibilities at the association will primarily be in the purchasing, marketing and advertising areas.

A certified public accountant, Messick arrives with CDMA having experienced 25% growth in sales and membership over the past two years.

At Fruth, Messick had been president and COO for 15 months. Before that, he held several positions, including treasurer, vice president and chief financial officer.

During Messick’s tenure, Point Pleasant, W.Va.-based Fruth revamped its strategy and set clear goals while striving to maintain the type of customer service and community involvement that made the chain “your hometown pharmacy.”
