Kerr Drug appoints Brown as head of KHCS

April 10th, 2009

RALEIGH, N.C. – Kerr Drug has appointed Michael Brown as president of Kerr Health Care Services (KHCS), a business unit of adjunct health-related operations that complement the retailer’s pharmacy business.

Brown previously was vice president of operations for KHCS. He continues to report to Ralph Petri, executive vice president of pharmacy and supply chain operations.

KHCS represents KDI Health Solutions (KHS) and all other Kerr clinical pharmacy and health care-related activities, including specialty pharmacy, assisted-living and long-term care pharmacy, central fill and call center.

KHS works with physician practices and employers to control rising health care costs. It is a leader in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in employer and physician practice populations.

Physicians struggling with decreasing reimbursements and pressure to see more patients can utilize the KHS staff of PharmD clinicians to provide more efficient quality care.

“Mike has elevated Kerr’s understanding of and excellence in all areas of clinical pharmacy operations,” said Anthony Civello, Kerr Drug president and chief executive officer. “His leadership has allowed us to get ahead of the curve as the retail pharmacy business and the country’s health care issues undergo dramatic change.”
