Kinney Drugs honors key business partners

GOUVERNEUR, N.Y. – Regional chain Kinney Drugs recognized key suppliers in announcing the winners of its 2009 Vendor Awards of Excellence.
The retailer on Friday said the awards, presented at the recent Fall Management Conference and Trade Show in Verona, N.Y., honor vendors for strong category management principles, an ability to collaborate with the corporate merchandising team and superior performance.
This year, Vendor Awards of Excellence went to Frito-Lay for direct store delivery, Alberto Culver for beauty care, Brisco Apparel for soft goods, Hershey for confections, Kimberly-Clark for personal care and US Nutrition for Category Captain of the Year.
"Kinney Drugs prides itself on building partner relationships and strong communications to ensure category management practices reflect a win-win relationship for both businesses," Rick Cognetti, Kinney's vice president of retail merchandising, said in a statement. "Selected winners showed tremendous support of our Customer Connection package in 2009, which reflected in outstanding merchandising initiatives to showcase their lines all year long."
Kinney operates 91 stores in central and northern New York and Vermont.
