NCPA signs up PIPCo membership

January 24th, 2011

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The members of the Partners in Pharmacy Cooperative (PIPCo) have joined the National Community Pharmacists Association.

NCPA said Monday that PIPCo, a cooperative of independent pharmacies in the north-central United States, has signed up all of its members for membership in the association.

"PIPCo is dedicated to the support of independent pharmacies and keeping them profitable in a competitive marketplace," NCPA president Robert Greenwood said in a statement. "We at NCPA share that same dedication to independent pharmacy's future and ability to continue providing expert medication counseling and other cost-saving services to patients. While PIPCo's leadership and many of its members have long been a part of NCPA, we are glad to now have all PIPCo members join us."

Gene Brah, executive director of PIPCo, commented, "To recognize the strength and importance of NCPA to Main Street community pharmacy, one needs but to examine the legislative victories won by NCPA this past year. For its dedication to the cause we are thankful. This year, once again, we will face many challenges. For NCPA to respond effectively, we invite all IPOs to consider increasing their financial support of NCPA, 'The Voice of Independent Community Pharmacy.' "

Last week, NCPA announced that the members of another independent pharmacy cooperative, the Pharmacy Providers of Oklahoma (PPOk), have joined the association.
