NCPDP readies for Technology and Business Conference

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A spate of key topics for pharmacy, pharmaceutical and other health care professionals will be on tap in May at the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) 2011 Annual Technology and Business Conference.
The standards development organization said this year's technology and business event "promises to be the best yet, offering a comprehensive agenda of educational sessions, networking opportunities, social events, and the opportunity to participate in work groups solving health information technology business challenges."
Topics to be addressed include health care reform, Medicare Part D, federal and state regulatory changes, the Drug Enforcement Administration Interim Final Rule, privacy and security, clinical interoperability, market trends, Telecommunication Version D.0, fraud and abuse, and the future of health care.
NCPDP said it will apply for Continuing Education (CE) credits for the Health IT Certification CPHIE, CPHIT and CPEHR programs, as well as for CE credits for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). AmerisourceBergen Corp. is sponsoring the program.
Scheduled for May 15 to 19 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort in Phoenix, the NCPDP Annual Technology and Business Conference draws attendees from across the health care sector, including chain and independent pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, software vendors, manufacturers, distributors, database management organizations and health plans.
NCPDP noted that early registration is available at a discounted rate through March 11. Conference registration for nonmembers includes a one-year NCPDP membership.
