LONGUEUIL, Quebec – The Jean Coutu Group has introduced Jean CoutuPhoto Boutique, a new mobile application function that lets iPhone users order photo prints on the go.
The Quebec drug store chain said Thursday that the new photo service, designed for the Apple iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad mobile platforms, is a first among Canadian pharmacies.
With Jean CoutuPhoto Boutique, iPhone users can take photos with their integrated camera; add photos from albums; modify the photos; select, share or print formats; share photos by e-mail; post photos on Facebook or Twitter; or have photos printed for pickup at the nearest Jean Coutu pharmacy.
"We are very proud to add this new function to our Jean Coutu application. In cooperation with Tactio Software, we have created a state-of-the-art iPhone application that allows our customers to print their photos more easily," Alain Lafortune, senior vice president of purchasing and marketing at the Jean Coutu Group, said in a statement. "More and more people use a smartphone, so it had become important to position ourselves at the technological forefront and remain a leader in our sector."
In addition, the application enables users to consult Info-Med, a new medication information service, to synchronize and update the list of Jean Coutu stores; refill prescriptions; pinpoint the nearest five Jean Coutu pharmacies and select a favorite stores; view the stores on a map and get directions by car, on foot or via public transit; play the Jean Coutu jingle by touching the PJC logo on the greeting page; and register a Jean Coutu gift card and Air Miles collector's numbers, according to the retailer.
