Pharmaca wins private-label design award

BOULDER, Colo. – Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy was honored with a first-place Design Excellence Award at the 2011 Private Label Manufacturers Association Annual Trade Show in Chicago.
Pharmaca's store-brand hand soaps were recognized for superior package design.
Pharmaca said Tuesday that the award, given by PLBuyer magazine, recognized outstanding package design in the health and personal care category for its store-brand liquid hand soaps.
The Design Excellence Awards are given based on five aspects of packaging: shelf impact, relevancy, benefit/appeal, quality positioning and aesthetic acumen, according to Pharmaca. First place was given to products that combined those aspects in packaging that stands out visually and reflects the brand's quality, the chain added.
The hand soaps were specially designed with a clean look that can fit into any decor, eliminating the need for a separate soap dispenser, according to Patti Hirsch, private-label category manager at Pharmaca.
"Pharmaca customers look to our private label as a step above the national brands," Hirsch said in a statement. "They trust our in-store practitioners for their health care needs and regularly buy Pharmaca-brand products as an extension of that trust."
Pharmaca said it faced off with six other private-brand finalists in the category, including products from major chains such as CVS, Sam's Club and Dollar General. Pharmaca's grapeseed, jojoba and almond oils were also selected as finalists in the category.
Offering traditional prescription filling services plus natural and complementary health solutions, Pharmaca operates 24 pharmacies in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington. Its private-label products include supplements, herbal formulas, body care and aromatherapy.
