Navarro opens prescription fulfillment center

August 24th, 2012

MEDLEY, Fla. – Navarro Discount Pharmacy has launched a fulfillment center facility for prescription medications under the name Navarro Health Services.

The 31-store South Florida drug chain said Thursday that the facility will help Navarro maximize efficiencies in the pharmacy, enabling its pharmacists to spend more time with patients and resulting in a higher level of pharmacy care.

Located at Navarro's corporate headquarters in Medley, the Fulfillment Center Facility includes a call center for incoming and outbound pharmacy inquiries staffed with over 40 employees. Equipped with state-of-the-art robotics, a RFID tagging system, a conveyor belt, biometrics and a bottle capper, the facility will streamline the fulfillment process while bolstering quality assurance, according to the company.

"The goal of the facility is to shift the pharmacy workload of maintenance, automatic refills and delivery of prescriptions to the Fulfillment Center Facility, giving our registered pharmacists more time to serve patients," Albert Garcia, executive vice president and president of Navarro Health Services, said in a statement. "The facility provides additional consultations related to patient's medication therapy regimen, adherence and potential side effects, thus ensuring patients receive world-class care."

Garcia noted that the process is seamless and allows patients to order their prescriptions in person, over the telephone or online while decreasing the wait time at stores for all new and acute prescriptions.

Dr. Maritza Aguayo is the director of the facility, and Dr. Elizabeth Hernandez manages its day-to-day operations, Navarro said. The company added that  Navarro Health Services measures the effectiveness of the facility through metrics such as prescription-fill turnaround time, average answer time, call volume and other key performance indicators.
