Walgreens closes deal for cystic fibrosis specialty pharmacy

December 7th, 2012

DEERFIELD, Ill., and BETHESDA, Md. – Walgreen Co. and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation have finalized a transaction that gives the drug chain a significant ownership stake in Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Pharmacy LLC, a newly formed specialty pharmacy for the disease.

Terms of the agreement weren't disclosed.

The companies said Friday that the deal, which was announced in early October, gives Walgreens and the CF Foundation joint ownership of two businesses: CF Services, a specialty pharmacy for CF patients and their families, and Pharma Dynamics Inc., a provider of new product launch support and call center services for drug manufacturers.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Pharmacy is the parent company of Cystic Fibrosis Services Inc.

According to Walgreens and the foundation, CF Services will continue to operate under its current name and remain based in the same location in Bethesda, Md. Pharma Dynamics is the former CF Services corporate accounts division.
