Rite Aid tool provides Part D assistance

October 1st, 2013

CAMP HILL, Pa. – With open enrollment for Medicare Part D approaching, Rite Aid Corp. plans to again offer its Medicare Advisor tool to help seniors compare and select a Medicare prescription drug plan (PDP).

The drug chain said Tuesday that Medicare Advisor will be provided in stores and online for the Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 Part D enrollment period.

Seniors can assess plans through personalized consultations in Rite Aid stores or compare plans at own home via riteaid.com/medicareadvisor. Comparisons estimate the three lowest-cost plans based on the enrollee's current prescriptions filled at Rite Aid.

"We know that selecting the right prescription insurance coverage can be overwhelming, and that's why Rite Aid is committed to offering a valuable resource to help our customers make the best decision based on their prescription needs," Robert Thompson, executive vice president of pharmacy at Rite Aid, said in a statement. "Whether they are eligible for Medicare Part D coverage for the first time or reviewing their current elections, Rite Aid encourages all customers making this important health care decision to take advantage of Rite Aid's free Medicare Advisor comparison tool with the help of their Rite Aid pharmacist or online at riteaid.com."

Rite Aid noted that of the many PDPs available this year, Medicare beneficiaries will see a new option from Symphonix Health Insurance: the value-oriented Symphonix Rite Aid Value Rx plan.

The drug chain said Rite Aid will be the exclusive preferred pharmacy provider in the plan, which includes $1 co-pays for certain generic drugs. Symphonix Rite Aid Value Rx will also provide a competitive monthly premium and offer lower co-pays at Rite Aid pharmacies. The plan is available everywhere Rite Aid operates except Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.

Rite Aid added that it's also a preferred pharmacy provider in Medicare Part D plans offered by WellPoint affiliates and Express Scripts Medicare (PDP), as well as several region-specific plans.
