Rite Aid earns specialty pharmacy accreditation
April 8th, 2014
CAMP HILL, Pa. – Rite Aid Corp. has received specialty pharmacy accreditation from URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accreditation organization.
The drug chain said Tuesday that as Food and Drug Administration approvals of complex medication therapies continue to rise, having the processes to support those therapies is critical, as are the clinical care programs to promote positive outcomes for patients.
To that end, the company said, Rite Aid Specialty Pharmacy provides individualized patient care plans, disease and drug education, and ongoing medication adherence management.
"We are very proud to have received full accreditation as a specialty pharmacy provider from URAC," Rite Aid executive vice president of pharmacy Robert Thompson said in a statement. "Every day, Rite Aid pharmacists are committed to providing all of our patients, especially those receiving specialty pharmacy treatments, with the best care possible. This designation from URAC recognizes our efforts and is great achievement for our specialty pharmacy team.”
According to URAC president and chief executive officer Kylanne Green, Rite Aid "has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care" by engaging in the process to earn URAC accreditation for its specialty pharmacy.
"In today's health care market, URAC accreditation provides a mark of distinction," Green stated, "and we applaud Rite Aid for meeting strict quality standards and achieving URAC Specialty Pharmacy accreditation."
