Dr. Reddy's ships generic version of Antara

April 23rd, 2014

HYDERABAD, India – Dr. Reddy's Laboratories has released fenofibrate capsules, a cholesterol-lowering medication, in the United States.

The India-based pharmaceutical company said Wednesday that its fenofibrate capsules (43 mg and 130 mg) are a generic equivalent of Lupin's Antara capsules.

Dr. Reddy's 43-mg fenofibrate capsules are available in a 30-count bottle, and the 130-mg capsules come in 30- and 90-count bottles.

Fenofibrate is indicated to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood and help mitigate the risk of atherosclerosis.

Branded and generic fenofibrate capsules had U.S. sales of about $74 million for the 12 months ended in February, according to IMS Health data reported by Dr. Reddy's.
