Report: McKesson mulling options for tech solutions unit

The Journal report, citing anonymous sources at the drug distribution giant, said options for the McKesson Technology Solutions unit might involve a sale or a merger.

McKesson Technology Solutions’ sales declined 5% year over year to $734 million for the fiscal 2016 fourth quarter ended March 31. The unit’s revenue for the full year also was down, by 6% to nearly $2.89 billion.

Overall, McKesson Corp.’s sales edged up 4% to $46.7 billion for the fourth quarter and advanced 7% to $190.9 billion for the full year.

McKesson Technology Solutions markets products and services to integrated delivery networks, hospitals, physician practices, home health care providers, retail pharmacies and payers. The unit includes five businesses: McKesson Health Solutions, Connected Care and Analytics, Imaging and Workflow Solutions, Business Performance Services and Enterprise Information Solutions.
