ABBOTT PARK, Ill. — Abbott has launched the second year of its “Abbott Dream Team” initiative in partnership with Real Madrid, combining youth soccer development with education on sports nutrition and health.
The nationwide program invites U.S. soccer players ages 18 to 19 to participate in free selection events that pair on-field training with guidance on nutrition, recovery and overall wellness from Abbott health experts. The effort reflects the company’s broader focus on the role of nutrition in athletic performance and healthy lifestyles.

Selection events will be held in six cities this spring: Miami, Washington, D.C., Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Participants will take part in soccer training sessions led by Real Madrid coaches while also receiving sports nutrition education and an Abbott health toolkit. Each athlete will also receive an “Abbott Dream Team” adidas jersey during the event.
From the nationwide pool of participants, 16 young athletes will be chosen to form the 2026 Abbott Dream Team. The selected group will travel to Madrid on an all-expenses-paid trip, where they will train at Real Madrid’s facilities, attend a match at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and receive instruction from the club’s coaches and medical staff.
Former Real Madrid defender Marcelo will serve as a mentor for the program, sharing insights on the importance of nutrition and conditioning in sustaining elite athletic performance.
After completing the Madrid experience, Dream Team members will return to the United States to work with Abbott on community events to promote healthy habits and sports participation among youth athletes.
As the Global Health Sciences and Nutrition Partner of the Real Madrid Football Club, Abbott provides nutritional guidance for Real Madrid’s first men’s and women’s teams and Academy teams through research-based dietary recommendations backed by the company’s over 135-year heritage in health sciences and understanding of the needs of athletes.
