ABBOTT PARK, Ill. — Abbott’s ZonePerfect brand has launched Sweet & Salty nutrition bars in cashew pretzel and trail mix varieties.

The company said Friday that the new snack bars "combine the irresistible combination of sweet and salty flavor varieties while providing excellent nutrition."

ZonePerfect Sweet & Salty bars contain 200 calories per serving and have 10 grams of protein and 19 vitamins and minerals. They also are rich in antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E and selenium, according to Abbott.

To mark the launch, Abbott is enabling consumers to request a sample Sweet & Salty bar on ZonePerfect’s Facebook page.

The ZonePerfect Sweet & Salty Cashew Pretzel bars combine roasted cashews and sweet yogurt bits with crispy, salty pretzels. And the ZonePerfect Sweet & Salty Trail Mix bars meld the "chewy goodness" of raisins and toasted oats with walnuts, roasted cashews, peanuts and almonds, along with peanut butter, the company said.

ZonePerfect Sweet & Salty bars are sold individually or in packs of five or 12 and are available nationwide in the nutrition aisle at drug stores, supermarkets and mass merchandisers.

"With ZonePerfect Nutrition Bars, it’s never a choice between important nutrition and great taste. You simply get both. And with the new Sweet & Salty bars, we’ve wrapped popular sweet and salty flavors together in a nutritious bar to satisfy both sides of consumers’ taste preferences," stated Tobe Cohen, divisional vice president and general manager of global performance nutrition at Abbott Nutrition. "On the go, between meetings, appointments or school events, ZonePerfect Cashew Pretzel and Trail Mix bars are a great snack to have at your side. They taste great and pack the needed protein, vitamins and minerals to keep you fueled throughout the day."
