MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Actavis Group has started shipping Clobetasol Propionate Shampoo and Clobetasol Propionate Lotion, indicated for the treatment of eczema and psoriasis.

The company said Tuesday that the products are generic equivalents to Galderma’s Clobex Shampoo and Clobex Topical Lotion.

Actavis also reported that because of its first-to-file status, the Food and Drug Administration has granted the company 180-day marketing exclusivity for the two generic products.

Combined annual brand sales of Clobex Shampoo and Clobex Topical Lotion totaled $89.9 million for the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 2011, according to IMS Health data cited by Actavis.

"The launch of Clobetasol Propionate Shampoo and Clobetasol Propionate Lotion displays our continuing commitment to introduce new, high-quality generic products to the marketplace, as well as highlights our expertise in developing and manufacturing a wide range of dosage forms," Doug Boothe, chief executive officer of Actavis Inc., the company’s U.S. subsidiary, said in a statement.
