HARTFORD, Conn. – Aetna, a CVS Health company, has announced the addition of Spanish-language capabilities to the Aetna Health app, aiming to improve health literacy and access for Spanish-speaking members across the U.S. This new feature is available to all eligible health plan members, regardless of their coverage type.
The update transforms the app's interface, enabling members to access key resources such as identity cards, benefit details, deductibles, claims, cost estimates, and provider information entirely in Spanish. This effort aligns with Aetna's mission to simplify and personalize health care access for its diverse member base.
"As a proud Latino whose first language is Spanish, I'm thrilled to announce the new language capabilities on the Aetna Health app," said Gus Giraldo, Senior Vice President of Individual & Family Plans at Aetna. "Better health begins with better engagement, and these capabilities demonstrate our commitment to connecting every member to their care in the most accessible way. We're confident this enhancement will broaden our reach and deepen our impact, fostering opportunities for optimal health outcomes."
In addition to app-based resources, Aetna offers support to Spanish-speaking members through care managers and customer service representatives. Through local events and broadcast interviews, the company also actively engages with Spanish-speaking communities by sharing public health information and advice on critical topics such as vaccinations, preventive care, and mental health.
According to the press release, Aetna's commitment to accessibility extends to exploring additional language options for the app in the future. Members seeking assistance can visit the language assistance page on the Aetna website.
