HARTFORD, Conn. — Aetna, a CVS Health company, announced Thursday that more than 69% of its Medicare Advantage (MA) members are enrolled in 2027 plans rated 4 stars or higher (out of 5 stars) by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The results position Aetna among the highest-performing large, publicly traded Medicare Advantage organizations in the Star Ratings program for the third consecutive year and reflect strong performance across clinical quality, preventive care and member experience measures.

Strong Clinical Quality Results
Aetna’s 2027 Star Ratings performance highlights success across several key clinical quality measures.
The company earned a 4.77-star rating for Plan All-Cause Readmissions, reflecting the effectiveness of its care coordination programs, provider partnerships and efforts to support members as they transition between care settings. Reducing avoidable hospital readmissions remains an important indicator of health care quality.
Aetna also achieved a 5.00-star rating for Care for Older Adults Medication Review and a 4.03-star rating for Care for Older Adults Functional Status Assessment, demonstrating its commitment to helping members manage their health and maintain independence.
In preventive care, Aetna earned strong scores for Colorectal Cancer Screening (4.19 stars) and Breast Cancer Screening (4.07 stars), reinforcing its focus on early detection and preventive health services.
Focus on Member Experience
The company also posted strong results on measures related to member satisfaction and customer support.
Aetna received a 4.29-star rating for Complaints About the Drug Plan, indicating high levels of member confidence and effective issue resolution. Additional strong scores included Customer Service (4.04 stars), Getting Needed Care (3.89 stars) and Getting Needed Prescription Drugs (4.07 stars), highlighting efforts to improve access to care and medications.
Aetna earned a 4.22-star rating for Rating of Health Care Quality, reflecting positive member experiences with providers and the broader care experience supported by the company.
Operational Excellence
Aetna’s results also demonstrated strong operational performance across service and administrative measures, including:
- Call Center Foreign Language Interpreter and Teletypewriter Availability: 4.99 stars
- Reviewing Appeals Decisions: 4.08 stars
- Plan Makes Timely Decisions About Appeals: 4.01 stars
- Drug Price Accuracy: 4.01 stars
