Albertsons signs 'Make Health Technology Great Again' pledge

The goal is to enable patients to securely share and access their health information across various networks.

BOISE, IDAHO — Albertsons Cos. has become the only grocery retailer to sign on to the Trump administration’s “Make Health Technology Great Again” initiative, joining more than 60 health care and tech companies in pledging to modernize the nation’s digital health infrastructure.

During a White House event on July 30 co-hosted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Albertsons CEO Susan Morris joined executives from Amazon, Apple, Google, CVS Health, OpenAI and others in committing to the pledge. The initiative aims to improve interoperability between health information systems and expand access to personalized digital health tools.

Albertsons' participation centers on its Sincerely Health platform, which the grocer will explore integrating into CMS Aligned Networks. The goal is to enable patients to securely share and access their health information across various networks, including health information exchanges, electronic health records (EHRs), and other relevant platforms.

“Inspiring well-being is part of our company’s purpose, and we believe it is for everyone, which is why we created the Sincerely Health platform with online and in-store resources to help consumers and their families eat, live and feel better, all while rewarding healthy choices,” said Morris. “We are thrilled to collaborate alongside the White House, HHS, CMS and the many great partners across the digital health ecosystem to see how technology like Sincerely Health can empower Americans to more easily manage their health and wellness. We’re eager to explore how Sincerely Health can make health and wellness management more accessible and rewarding for communities across America.”

Launched in early 2023, Sincerely Health connects Albertsons loyalty members with resources to manage prescriptions, schedule vaccines, access personal health records, and track nutrition, fitness, and wellness goals. The platform uses customer data to offer tailored guidance—particularly in the areas of diabetes and obesity management—and directs users to care providers when needed. So far, Albertsons has gathered insights from more than 10,000 customers and associates using the platform.

The broader federal effort includes encouraging adoption of the CMS Interoperability Framework and supporting the creation of tools that replace outdated, paper-based systems. Key areas of focus include secure digital identity verification, conversational AI for symptom checking and care navigation, and data-sharing tools to improve chronic condition management.

Other pledge participants include Noom, Virta Health, UnitedHealth Group, Samsung, Zocdoc, and Anthropic. The first set of digital health solutions from participating companies is expected to roll out in early 2026.
