STAMFORD, Conn. – Teva Pharmaceuticals has been recognized with the 2025 Power of Partnership Award, presented by Americares in collaboration with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), for its exceptional commitment to expanding access to critical medicines globally.

The award was presented today at HDA’s Business and Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla., by Dr. Adam Schwartz, Deputy Medical Officer at Americares. Teva was selected for its longstanding philanthropic partnership with Americares, through which the biopharmaceutical company has donated life-saving medications for nearly three decades.

Now in its 20th year, the Power of Partnership Award celebrates HDA-member companies demonstrating exceptional dedication to improving healthcare accessibility worldwide.

“Teva is one of Americares most dedicated and longstanding supporters, donating enough medicine over the past 29 years to fill nearly 19 million prescriptions,” Schwartz said during the award presentation. “With Teva’s support we are increasing access to health for people and communities in need all over the world.”

In 2024 alone, Teva donated $48 million worth of medicine to Americares for distribution to partner clinics in low- and middle-income countries. Its medicines, which include treatments for chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and depression, as well as antibiotics and respiratory therapies, have reached health facilities in 124 countries. The company has also provided support during global crises, including the 2010 Haiti earthquake, the Philippines flooding, and the ongoing Ukraine humanitarian emergency.

Carol Richardson, Teva’s U.S. Head of Sustainability and Health Equity, emphasized the alignment with the company’s broader goals:

“Expanding access to medicines for underserved populations is a core element of Teva’s Healthy Future sustainability strategy,” said Carol Richardson, U.S. head of sustainability and health equity at Teva. “Teva is honored to receive this prestigious recognition from Americares, our longstanding partner, and we look forward to continuing our work together to help provide quality care to people in need around the world.”

Among its most recent initiatives, Teva launched a produce-to-give program in 2024, dedicating a supply of essential medicines to three Americares-supported health facilities in El Salvador. In its first year, the program helped fill over 13,500 prescriptions, treating infections, cardiovascular conditions, and gastrointestinal illnesses.

“On behalf of HDA, we congratulate Teva on this well-deserved honor,” said HDA President and CEO Chester “Chip” Davis, Jr. “HDA applauds Teva’s work with Americares to donate lifesaving medicines to patients worldwide, as well as Teva’s commitment to enhancing health outcomes for individuals. Our longstanding partnership with Americares on the Power of Partnership Award helps highlight companies—like Teva—that are making a meaningful impact through philanthropy.”
