VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — This summer, AmerisourceBergen Corp. plans to begin construction on three new distribution centers.

The new facilities will be located in Olive Branch, Miss.; Shakopee, Minn.; and Newburgh, N.Y. AmerisourceBergen said building is expected take 18 to 24 months to complete.

AmerisourceBergen Drug Corp. (ABDC), the company’s drug distribution unit and largest business, has a network of 25 distribution centers nationwide. The new centers, to operate within the current network, are expected to improve product access, boost efficiency in the health care and pharmaceutical supply chain, and bolster customer service.

AmerisourceBergen said the new centers are part of ongoing investments, totaling more than $1 billion over the last 10 years, to the company’s distribution network and IT systems, which handle almost 35% of all pharmaceuticals sold and distributed in the United States.

“Our goal is to help successfully execute the patient-focused strategies of the manufacturers, providers, pharmacists and retailers who we support,” stated Bob Mauch, executive vice president at AmerisourceBergen and president of ABDC. “Enhancements to our distribution network, combined with AmerisourceBergen’s unsurpassed knowledge and reach, positions us to increase efficiency and drive innovation in pharmaceutical distribution and the delivery of health care.”
