VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen Corp. has closed its $520 million cash deal to buy World Courier Group Inc.
The pharmaceutical distributor said Tuesday that the acquisition is expected to be neutral to its fiscal 2012 earnings and accretive in fiscal 2013.
Plans call for World Courier to become a new operating segment within AmerisourceBergen, which announced an agreement to acquire the company in early March.
A global specialty transportation and logistics firm for the biopharmaceutical industry, World Courier provides transportation, storage and distribution services for multinational biopharmaceutical clinical trials in addition to other end markets.
"We are excited to welcome their 2,500 associates to AmerisourceBergen and to explore the possibilities of extending our capabilities in select international markets," Steven Collis, president and chief executive officer of AmerisourceBergen, stated late last week in reporting his company’s second-quarter results.
