SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Yvonne Gallagher, president of Sav-Mor Pharmacy Services for almost 30 years, is stepping down from her role. On behalf of the Sav-Mor board of directors, Anthony Codrean will take over the reins on June 1, 2025.
She began her career in 1983 at an Independent Sav-Mor Drug Store. After five years as a pharmacy technician, she was promoted to assistant store manager at a Sav-Mor pharmacy in Dearborn, Mich. She then moved to Arbor Drugs corporate office in Troy, Mich, where she worked for five years until the company was sold to CVS. In late 1995, she joined Sav-Mor Drug Stores as the director of pharmacy services and was progressively promoted to vice president and then president in 2016. Over her 42-year career in pharmacy, she has participated in various industry groups and held numerous leadership roles.
Since joining the Sav-Mor team, Codrean has held several roles within the organization with a focus on serving independent pharmacies through competitive negotiation of drug procurement, business development, technology, and strategic vendor partnerships and payor opportunities that have allowed pharmacies to provide needed patient care in their communities without facing the burden of facing closure.
“Today’s community pharmacies face immense pressure to survive in a healthcare landscape shaped by years of systemic disadvantage. While legislative and regulatory reforms are slowly making progress, we recognize the immediate need to support our members in areas where our team can make a real difference. That’s why we remain committed to empowering independent pharmacies through a transparent, competitive, and member-owned buying group - projected to grow to 100+ pharmacies by year-end. More than that, we offer a true partnership: one where ownership is shared, accountability is clear, and no pharmacy is left to feel like it’s operating alone. Together, we’re building the foundation for long-term success.”
Codrean is a member of the MI Pharmacists Association, National Community Pharmacists Association, and the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs. He has been serving on the Michigan Independent Pharmacy Association Board since 2019 and the Sav-Mor Pharmacy Services board of directors.
The Sav-Mor Pharmacy Services leadership team has over 50 years of combined industry experience. Sav-Mor has been providing offerings to pharmacies such as the Member Owned Buying Group, PSAO services, and centralized “corporate like” management services for more than thirty years to independent pharmacy owner/operators. These same owner/operators provide a framework of rules necessary to service their stores timely and cost effectively. They are currently assisting pharmacies in 28 states and growing. Sav-Mor Pharmacy Services is located in Southfield, Mich.
