NEW YORK — Personal care brand eos has launched Tangerine Medicated Anti-Bacterial Lip Balm Smooth Sphere, a natural, medicated lip balm designed to help prevent the spread of germs.

The company said Tuesday that eos Tangerine Lip Balm Smooth Sphere is 95% natural and provides anti-bacterial protection through its active ingredient phenol (0.5%).
A health-boosting blend of antioxidants; zinc, vitamins A, C and E; and honey and natural fruit and green tea extracts help soothe and heal chapped lips, according to eos (evolutionofsmooth.com).
Meanwhile, jojoba oil provides long-lasting moisture, and shea butter softens and nourishes lips. The company said the petrolatum and paraben-free lip balm also can alleviate symptoms of cold sores.
To help maintain a germ-free environment, the lip balm features a spherical design so it can be applied directly to lips, unlike pot lip balms that require users to apply the balm with their fingers, eos noted, adding that the lip care product can aid in flu prevention as the peak of the influenza season nears.
