WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has named longtime health care industry veteran Tracy Bahl executive vice president of health plans.
He will oversee the company’s teams that support its health plan clients and help them navigate the nation’s evolving health care system.
Bahl joins CVS Caremark after nearly three decades as a health care executive.
Most recently, he worked for the equity investment firm General Atlantic as an advisor specializing in health care. In that role he served as executive vice chairman of the medical data services company Emdeon Inc. before it was sold to investment firm The Blackstone Group for $3 billion in the summer of 2011.
Earlier in his career Bahl spent 10 years as chief executive officer of UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s Uniprise division. He has also held a variety of regional and national health plan roles at CIGNA Healthcare.
With health care in the United States in the midst of profound changes, executives say having Bahl on board will benefit both CVS and its clients.
“Tracy is a great addition to our team, and we look forward to working with him to continue to develop innovative solutions and offerings for health plans,” says Jon Roberts, president of the CVS Caremark’s pharmacy benefit management business.
