SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs is opening one of its largest stores ever in the Puget Sound area.

The store, a 16,085-square-foot unit in the city’s Greenwood section, opened for business on October 13 and offers a broader merchandise mix than most other Bartell Drug outlets. A grand opening event is scheduled for October 26.

Executives note that Bartell, which has 61 locations, has operated a store in the Greenwood neighborhood for 80 years.

While many of the features in the new store are part of other Bartell units, it is the first to have a growler refilling station. Dubbed the Greenwood Growler Station, it offers an on-tap selection of six rotating regional beers and ales.

In addition, the new store includes Bartell’s signature Urban Market, an assortment of sweets and snacks and a wide range of beauty products.

Bartell will be celebrating the opening with a free hot dog barbecue, a live radio broadcast and other activities this month.
