BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Bausch + Lomb announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the Bausch + Lomb ULTRA family of contact lenses for extended wear of up to six nights and seven days of continuous wear.

First introduced in the United States in 2014, Bausch + Lomb ULTRA is the only brand of contact lenses that include MoistureSeal technology, a patented combination of material and manufacturing process, which helps to maintain 95 percent of lens moisture for a full 16 hours.

“We are proud of today’s regulatory milestone, which signifies that Bausch + Lomb ULTRA contact lenses provide additional options for eye care professionals to help meet the lifestyle demands and preferences of their patients,” said John Ferris, general manager, U.S. Vision Care, Bausch + Lomb.

“With this latest indication for Bausch + Lomb ULTRA, we continue to deliver on our promise to provide a wide range of innovative solutions that help address the evolving needs of patients and eye care professionals alike.”

Bausch + Lomb ULTRA contact lenses are engineered to provide all-day comfort and consistently clear vision. The family of contact lenses features polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) for enhanced wettability, a high Dk/t (163) and low modulus (70). The Bausch + Lomb ULTRA family of contact lenses are also available for patients with astigmatism and presbyopia, and are among the fastest growing families of contact lenses.2

“Bausch + Lomb ULTRA contact lenses are a trusted and preferred lens option for my practice and my patients,” said Ben Gaddie, O.D., Gaddie Eye Centers, Louisville, KY. “Now with the extended wear indication, I can offer these lenses to patients who prefer a longer wearing schedule as part of their lifestyle.”
