NEW YORK — According to published reports, Best Buy has sold its home care technology division, Current Health, back to its original owner co-founder, Chris McGhee. Acquired by Best Buy in 2021 for $400 million, Current Health is poised to thrive independently under McGhee's leadership, with a renewed focus on enhancing home-based health care solutions.
Current Health specializes in technology that enables hospital-at-home and at-home care models, with McGhee expressing his intention to build Current Health into "the world’s largest health care organization" focused on shifting more healthcare into home and community settings.
McGhee said he reacquired the business and is now running it again as an independent company, with several former team members also rejoining the organization.
