ST. BRUNO DE MONTARVILLE, Quebec — Boiron Canada has rolled out Arnicare Sport tablets, a new product for athletes designed to help prevent and reduce cramps, aches and muscular fatigue.

The homeopathic health care company said Tuesday that Arnicare Sport — intended to supplement its Arnica Gel topical analgesic — is a natural, nonsteroidal product that increases stamina and accelerates recovery time.

Arnicare Sport is made up of three natural active ingredients that act on the symptoms experienced from a sustained physical effort, according to Boiron. Arnica montana relieves muscle soreness, while sarcolacticum acidum and zincum oxydatum reduce lactic acid, which is responsible for cramps and muscle soreness.

Boiron recommends that users of Arnicare Sport take one chewable tablet in the following situations: the day before working out or before a tournament; every hour during physical activity to prevent cramps and maintain endurance; and every hour until improvement 10 to 14 hours after physical activity to fight aches.

Carrying a suggested retail price of $14.49, Arnicare Sport comes in packaging that includes two tubes of 11 tablets each.

Its companion product, Arnica Gel, is designed to act rapidly on muscle pains, inflammations and bruising with a soothing cooling effect after application. Priced at $15.99, Arnica Gel comes in a 75g tube, and its packaging has a new visual identity, Boiron said.

Graham Rynbend, head athletic therapist for the Montreal Canadiens franchise of the National Hockey League, commented, "I regularly use Arnica Gel to reduce muscle pain, and I recommend it to the Montreal Canadiens players. When you play professional hockey, aches, muscular fatigue, bruising and swelling are very common, and for my players I want the very best products."

Boiron Canada chief executive officer Majid Djoudi stated, "With Arnica Gel and Arnicare Sport, we want to provide recreational athletes as well as the Montreal Canadiens players means to reach their highest performance by using natural and non-steroidal products."
