Brownmed acquires baby care company NuRoo

Brownmed has acquired baby care manufacturer NüRoo Inc., whose products are designed to foster the bond between mother and baby. Financial terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Brownmed has acquired baby care manufacturer NüRoo Inc., whose products are designed to foster the bond between mother and baby.

Financial terms of the acquisition weren’t disclosed. Brownmed said Monday that the deal includes NuRoo’s full line of products, which include the NuRoo Pocket, NuRoo Nursing Scarf and NuRoo Swaddler.

The NuRoo Pocket babywearing shirt offers full coverage and mobility for moms practicing skin-to-skin Contact with their newborns and doubles as a hands-free newborn carrier. The NuRoo Nursing Scarf provides a stylish, convenient and comfortable yet discreet way for mothers to nurse their infant. And the NuRoo Swaddler features a three-sizes-in-one design that eliminates the need to buy multiple swaddles as a baby grows.

"The acquisition of NuRoo reflects Brownmed’s continued commitment to innovative, patient-focused medical devices," stated Ivan Brown, president and chief executive officer of Brownmed. "By adding NuRoo to our family of brands, we expand our traditional product mix from those focused on allowing patients to more effectively recover from injury or ailment to include products around nurturing health from the beginning of life."

Plans call for NuRoo co-founders Hope Parish and Daniela Jensen to join Brownmed and be based in the company’s Boston office.
