MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Buster Brands, a supplier of over-the-counter natural medicines, has expanded its product lineup with Cold Buster cold syrup.
The company said Tuesday that Cold Buster, which began shipping last month, provides an all-natural, safe alternative to popular OTC cold remedies containing the cough suppressant dextromethorphan, which recently drew scrutiny from the Food and Drug Administration due to excessive use and abuse by consumers.
Cold Buster syrup contains Pelargonium, an extract from the South African Geranium. Buster Brands said that unlike many cold remedies that simply mask symptoms, Cold Buster speeds recovery because pelargonium has been clinically shown to significantly reduce duration and severity of cold symptoms.
With a warming, honey-lemon taste, Cold Buster is intened to provide relief from congestion, cough, sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, headache and hoarseness. Its nondrowsy formula also is not habit-forming, has no known drug interactions and is zinc-free, according to the company.
Buster Brands’ product lineup also includes the Sinus Buster, Allergy Buster, Headache Buster and Sinus Buster Mild nasal sprays; Spray Awake energy spray; and Sinus Genie nasal salts and Neti Bottle dual-action rinse top.
Chain retailers offering the Buster Brands products include CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Kmart and Safeway.
