LINTHICUM, Md. – CARE Pharmacies Cooperative Inc. announced the appointment of its 2024 officers, and the addition of two new members to its board of directors with the reappointment of one Director for an additional term.

Dean Gruber was named chairman of the board and will replace Dr. Michael Kim who served in that position for nearly 10 years and will remain on the Board. Gruber a long time CARE Pharmacies Board member, is currently the Vice President of Trade Relations for altScripts Pharmacies in Wisconsin and holds a pharmacy degree from the University of Wisconsin. Gruber is also the founder of The Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin (PSW) focused on mentoring, board and committee involvement, innovation, and change.
Mark Jensen, a prominent attorney in Baltimore, leads the transactional department at Bowie & Jensen, LLC, a law-firm he co-founded in 1990, and was named Vice-Chairman. Jensen earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamline University in 1980 and his law degree from the University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 1985. Mr. Jensen also formerly served on the MedStar Health Board of Directors, and is currently a member of the Maryland Health Care Commission.
Mike Cantrell, a registered pharmacist, and licensed attorney was named Treasurer. Cantrell was the Vice President of Pharmacy Network Development for ATEB, the Senior Vice President of Retail Health for Shopko, the Vice President of Pharmacy for Delhaize America, and a former Executive at wholesaler Cencora. Cantrell holds a B.A. degree in chemistry from the University of Northern Colorado, a B.S. degree in pharmacy from University of Utah, and a J.D. degree from Peninsula University.
Lionel Phillips the founder and owner of Inside Edge Consulting Group, Inc., a pharmaceutical and biotech marketing consulting firm based in Princeton, NJ., was also appointed to the Board of Directors and will serve a three-year term. Inside Edge Consulting specializes in obtaining insights and developing programs to support go-to-market growth strategy initiatives with a focus on the health of underserved minority populations. Phillips is also the Board Chair for the Make Well Known Foundation. He received an MBA specializing in Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing from St. Joseph’s University Haub School of Business.
Chris Antypas, a Pharmacist and Entrepreneur, currently owns multiple pharmacies and has a comprehensive understanding of business management, purchasing, third-party contracting, compliance, and patient care. In addition to his pharmacy ownership, Chris is an active pharmacy benefits consultant, where he guides self-insured employers on the management of their benefit plan (including PBM selection/oversight). Chris owns several other pharmacy-related companies related to drug purchasing and clinical services and serves on several advisory boards for industry organizations. Chirs graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and is the current President of the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association. Chris was elected to serve a three-year term.
Christine Lee-Wilson, the owner of Professional Pharmacy in Baltimore, MD was selected to serve another three-year term. Christine holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. Johns University in Jamaica, NY and was the past Chair and President the Maryland Pharmacists Association. Wilson has served on the CARE Pharmacies Board of Directors since 2018.
