ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Michael Wysong has been appointed chief executive officer at CARE Pharmacies Inc.

The pharmacy franchisor, which announced the move Friday, said that Wysong took the CEO reins earlier this month.

"It’s an honor to join CARE Pharmacies in their mission of enhancing and promoting
retail independent pharmacy," Wysong said in a statement. "This is an important and exciting time to be in the business of providing health care services. With the new demands and challenges of health care reform, CARE Pharmacies is well-positioned to provide the personalized services and support that our customers will require and deserve."

Before joining CARE Pharmacies, Wysong served as lead vice president of retail sales at AmerisourceBergen Corp. and prior to that as vice president of sales at Cardinal Health Inc.

"We are very excited to have Mr. Wysong join the CARE team," commented Molly Carr, CARE Pharmacies chairman and owner of New Hampshire CARE Pharmacy and Medical Equipment. "We are confident his knowledge of community pharmacy will recharge the CARE brand, maximizing our unique position within independent community pharmacy."

The company noted that CARE Pharmacies’ goal is to expand the network and draw attention to the specialized services offered by CARE Pharmacy franchisees.

"We at CARE see many opportunities arising from health care reform that will reaffirm our position in the community as knowledgeable health care professionals," Carr stated, "and we look forward to providing that quality of care."
