CFO Karst promoted at Rite Aid

Rite Aid Corp. chief financial officer Darren Karst has been promoted to senior executive vice president and added the title of chief administrative officer. Rite Aid said late Wednesday that the appointment is effective immediately. Karst previously was executive vice president and CFO.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid Corp. chief financial officer Darren Karst has been promoted to senior executive vice president and added the title of chief administrative officer.

Rite Aid said late Wednesday that the appointment is effective immediately. Karst previously was executive vice president and CFO.

Karst takes over the chief administrative officer post from Frank Vitrano, whom he succeeded as CFO in August 2014. Vitrano will remain with the company as chief strategic business development officer.

Besides his current responsibilities for all aspects of Rite Aid’s finance, accounting, treasury, tax, investor relations, legal, risk management, internal assurance and asset protection functions, Karst will now oversee the company’s information technology, indirect procurement and operating efficiency functions.

Also on Wednesday, Rite Aid announced the appointment of Jim Comitale, assistant general counsel, as senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, reporting to Karst. Comitale succeeds Marc Strassler, who will continue to serve as Rite Aid’s corporate counsel.
