PLANO, Texas — Frito-Lay’s Cracker Jack brand is marking the 100-year anniversary of "a prize in every box" by partnering with Walgreens to give consumers the chance to win what it called "the ultimate in-package prize": a diamond ring valued at $1,000.

Frito-Lay North America, a unit of PepsiCo, said Monday that starting Nov. 1, 30 Cracker Jack fans can redeem winning tokens inside specially marked 2 7/8-ounce bags of Cracker Jack Original Caramel Coated Popcorn & Peanuts and Cracker Jack Butter Toffee snacks at participating Walgreens drug stores nationwide.

Consumers can redeem the tokens for their diamond ring prizes by visiting the promotion website at CrackerJackDiamonds.com.

"For generations, consumers have looked forward to finding that special prize inside their Cracker Jack snack packages," commented Alanna Cotton, senior director of business development for growth ventures at Frito-Lay North America. "With this promotion, we’re celebrating 100 years of Cracker Jack prizes by taking the in-package prize experience to a whole new level."

During the promotion, consumers can also engage with the Cracker Jack brand and other fans through a dedicated tab on the Frito-Lay Facebook Page. The tab features Cracker Jack-inspired recipes and Cracker Jack trivia and enables fans to send virtual Cracker Jack prizes to their Facebook friends.

On the Cracker Jack tab, fans can also enter for a chance to win one of a total 30 Cracker Jack prize packs, including bags of Cracker Jack snacks and $50 Walgreens gift cards. One prize pack will be awarded to a fan each day.

The iconic Cracker Jack "a prize in every box" program was introduced in 1912 as a way to bring fun and excitement to the Cracker Jack snacking experience, the company said. Over the last 100 years, the Cracker Jack brand has given away more than 23 billion in-package prizes, ranging from stickers and miniature booklets to baseball cards.

Frito-Lay added that Cracker Jack Butter Toffee snacks are the latest addition to the Cracker Jack product lineup. Exclusively at Walgreens stores for a limited time, Cracker Jack Butter Toffee snacks are available in 2 7/8-ounce bags for a suggested retail price of $1.09 each or two 2 7/8-ounce bags for $2.
