CINCINNATI — Crest and Oral-B have added the Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control line of products, which are designed to significantly reduce plaque when used together.

The Procter & Gamble oral care brands said Monday that the new product family includes Crest Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control Toothpaste, Crest Pro-Health Clinical Rinse, the Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Toothbrush and Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss.

According to P&G, the products provide a comprehensive solution not only to counteract plaque but also to help prevent plaque from coming back and to "help you maintain a professional level of clean at home for up to two months."

Crest Pro-Health Clinical Plaque Control Toothpaste is clinically proven to help keep plaque from coming back and works by killing plaque germs and slowing down their ability to generate new plaque. It comes in 4-ounce and 5.8-ounce sizes that retail for $4.25 and $4.75, respectively.

Touted by P&G as Crest’s most advanced rinse formula ever, Crest Pro-Health Clinical Rinse helps keep teeth 91% clean of plaque for up to two months after a dental visit. It’s available in 500-milliliter ($5.99) and 1-liter ($7.29) sizes.

The Oral-B Pro-Health Clinical Pro-Flex Toothbrush, meanwhile, has flexing sides that individually adjust to teeth and gums to clean areas where plaque growth begins. P&G said the toothbrush, which retails for $4.99, removes up to 93% of hard-to-reach plaque with regular use.

And working in tandem with the new brush is Oral-B Glide Pro-Health Clinical Protection Floss, which P&G reported is clinically proven to help reverse gingivitis in two weeks as part of a comprehensive dental health routine. It slides up to 50% more easily in tight spaces versus regular floss, according to the company, and effectively removes plaque and food particles in between teeth to help prevent cavities. The floss carries a retail price of $3.99.

"You may think you’re doing all you can to protect against plaque, but new high-resolution image technology shows that daily oral hygiene may only remove about one-half of existing plaque. The remaining plaque can quickly accumulate throughout the day, overnight and between brushing," stated Dr. Robert Gerlach, DDS, MPH Research Fellow, for P&G Global Oral Care Research. "We developed the Clinical Plaque Control line to combat this issue. When used together, these products are clinically proven to help keep plaque from coming back by killing plaque germs and slowing their ability to generate new plaque."
