WOBURN, Mass. — CutisPharma Inc. has introduced FIRST Duke’s Mouthwash and FIRST Mary’s Mouthwash compounding kits, which expand the company’s FIRST Magic Mouthwash line.
The company said Wednesday that the active ingredients in FIRST Duke’s Mouthwash are comparable to those in the most routinely prepared formulation of Magic Mouthwash containing Benadryl, hydrocortisone, and nystatin, while the active ingredients in FIRST Mary’s Mouthwash compare with those in the most routinely prepared formulation of Magic Mouthwash containing Benadryl, hydrocortisone, nystatin and tetracycline.
The product line already includes FIRST Mouthwash BLM and FIRST BXN Mouthwash. The prescription mouthwash kits are made for one patient and include preweighed powders and a premeasured suspension, the pharmacist needing only to add the powders to the liquid suspension, shake and then dispense to the patient.
"By launching FIRST Duke’s and Mary’s, physicians now have four of the more commonly prescribed magic mouthwash prescriptions available in a kit," commented Dr. Indu Muni, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of CutisPharma. "The company now offers an expanded line of Magic Mouthwash formulations for patients, physicians and pharmacists."
According to CutisPharma, the FIRST products save dispensing time and can be compounded by the pharmacist while the patient waits, increasing customer satisfaction. Using FIRST Mouthwash kits, the pharmacist can compound a prescription faster than those prepared in the conventional way, the company said, adding that a single NDC number assigned to the entire kit facilitates third-party reimbursement and reduces audit-related adjustments.
CutisPharma said it now has 12 proprietary prescription compounding kits on the market, including five progesterone suppository compounding kits, two testosterone kits, one hydrocortisone kit and four Magic Mouthwash kits.
