WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. has made a round of promotions in its CVS/pharmacy business.

The company said Thursday that Mike Bloom has been promoted to executive vice president for merchandising and supply chain. He previously held the title of senior vice president in that role.

Bloom leads an integrated, end-to-end drug store network, managing store layout as well as the selection, purchasing, inventory and supply of product to CVS stores, according to CVS Caremark.

He joined CVS as part of the People’s Drug Store acquisition in 1991. He served as vice president and merchandising manager for consumer health care and later led the Life store prototype initiative. He was promoted to senior vice president of merchandising in 2003 and then to senior vice president of merchandising and supply chain last year.

CVS also announced that Scott Baker has been promoted from senior vice president to executive vice president of internal operations and real estate. He continues to be responsible for store and pharmacy operations supporting the company’s retail stores and for new retail location development and facilities management.

Baker joined CVS with the Revco acquisition in 1997 as a region manager, having held a number of field management and operations roles. He served as a region manager in several CVS markets and was promoted to area vice president for New England in 2002. In early 2007, he was named senior vice president of the East Division, and in 2008-09 he led the successful integration of Longs Drug Stores.

Beth Wingate, meanwhile, has been promoted to senior vice president of payer relations. Wingate joined CVS Caremark in 2007 as vice president of managed care. She will continue to take the lead on negotiating rates with insurers for the company’s retail pharmacies and will oversee the reimbursement audit function, CVS Caremark said.

Also, the company announced that Charley Golden has been promoted to senior vice president of construction and facilities management, overseeing all construction, repairs and maintenance activities across CVS Caremark for more than 7,500 buildings. Golden joined the Company in 1997 as a senior industrial engineer in logistics and since 1999 has held the position of vice president of construction and facilities management.

Baker, Bloom and Wingate report to Larry Merlo, president of CVS/pharmacy. Golden reports to Baker, CVS Caremark said.
