WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Health has announced new clinical affiliations with Ochsner Health System in Louisiana and the University of Mississippi Medical Center, including the latter’s Center for Telehealth.
CVS said Wednesday that through the clinical collaborations it will provide prescription and visit information to the health care organizations via the integration of electronic health record (EHR) systems, which will help enhance clinical care for patients served by the health providers. Patients also will continue to have access to clinical support, medication counseling, chronic disease monitoring and wellness programs at CVS/pharmacy drug stores and MinuteClinic retail health clinics.
The health care organizations’ providers also will receive data on interventions conducted by CVS pharmacists to improve patient medication adherence. In addition, the affiliation will promote collaboration between the health providers and MinuteClinic to sharpen coordination of care for patients seen at the clinic locations. Doctors affiliated with the organizations will collaborate with MinuteClinic practitioners on joint clinical programs and care coordination.

CVS added that the new clinical relationships bring the total number of health system and health care provider affiliations for CVS Health and MinuteClinic to more than 50 major health systems and health care providers nationwide.
