WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Pharmacy this week launched free, same-day delivery for prescription drugs and certain over-the-counter products in Manhattan.
CVS said Wednesday that the delivery service is being offered at all locations in Manhattan. Prescriptions and OTC items can be delivered directly from CVS Pharmacy in secure, tamper-proof packaging to the customer’s door.
OTC products that can be added to a prescription delivery include medicines for cough, cold and flu as well as for other common conditions. Orders made by 11 a.m. are delivered by 4 p.m., and those made by 4 p.m. are scheduled for delivery by 8 p.m.
Plans call for the CVS same-day delivery service to launch in additional cities and nationwide next-day delivery to be rolled out in early 2018, the company said. CVS had announced plans for the new delivery service early last month.
“Free, same-day prescription delivery gives customers the option of having the pharmacy they trust deliver right to them at their homes or work in Manhattan,” CVS Pharmacy president Helena Foulkes, who’s also executive vice president at CVS Health, said in a statement. “Delivery is another way that we can meet our customers wherever, however and whenever they want in order to make healthcare easier.”
Also this week, CVS kicked off a Manhattan-focused marketing campaign to reach customers in highly visible locations throughout the city, including transit hubs such as Penn Station Plaza and Columbus Circle Station.
“Our goal is to reach people living and working in Manhattan to let them know about our new prescription delivery service through a fun, highly visible campaign that will reach them while they are traveling around the city as well as through digital and mobile channels,” commented Norman de Greve, senior vice president and chief marketing officer at CVS Health.
