CVS Health supports food access during Hunger Action Month

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — As part of Hunger Action Month, CVS Health is highlighting its investments and volunteer efforts to improve access to nutritious food.

Food insecurity continues to affect communities nationwide. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap 2026 study, nearly 48 million people, including 14 million children, experienced food insecurity in 2024.

CVS Health said that it and the CVS Health Foundation have invested in nonprofit organizations working to expand food access, provide medically tailored meals, and strengthen community food systems.

Among those efforts is support for Feeding America’s MealConnect platform, which connects surplus food with organizations that serve people facing hunger. The company has also supported Community Servings’ Food is Medicine Accelerator Program, which helps organizations expand medically tailored nutrition programs by providing training and fundraising assistance.

Other organizations receiving support include No Kid Hungry, Meals on Wheels of New Jersey, Harlem Grown, Windy City Harvest, and Central California Food Bank. Their programs include nutritious meal distribution, prescription food boxes, urban agriculture, and community gardening.

CVS Health also recently helped support the opening of a school-based food pantry at Woonsocket High School in Rhode Island. The pantry provides students and families with access to groceries on campus.

The company’s efforts extend to employee volunteerism. CVS Health and Aetna colleagues volunteer throughout the year with food banks, meal programs, community gardens, and other nonprofit organizations, helping to sort, pack, and distribute food.

CVS Health said its approach combines charitable giving, community partnerships and volunteer work to address food insecurity and its impact on broader health outcomes.
