WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark Corp. entered the Omaha market with the recent grand opening at one of its two new drug stores in the Nebraska city.
Additional locations in the market are planned over the next several years. CVS/pharmacy has also expanded its presence this year in St. Louis, Memphis and Puerto Rico.
“We are pleased to open our first stores in Omaha and provide the community with high-quality and convenient pharmacy services at a great value,” remarks Dennis Palmer, senior vice president of CVS/pharmacy’s West division. “As we continue to enter new markets such as Omaha, we remain committed to making pharmacy solutions effective and easy for our customers.”
The new stores in Omaha offer such features as a full-service pharmacy, a complete line of health and beauty products (including many brands exclusive to CVS/pharmacy), general merchandise, digital photo processing and the CVS ExtraCare rewards program.
As part of the grand opening celebration the chain announced that it signed on as a Silver Sponsor of the ALS Association’s three “Walk to Defeat ALS’’ events in Nebraska. CVS is a longtime supporter of the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Treg Charlton, CVS/pharmacy’s regional director of real estate for the Omaha market, served as an honorary co-chair of this year’s ALS fund-raising campaign. Charlton was diagnosed with ALS last spring and was one of the CVS officials at the Omaha grand opening.
“CVS/pharmacy is committed to giving back to the communities where it does business, and I am delighted that we could make an immediate impact in Omaha through our sponsorship of the Walk to Defeat ALS,” says Charlton.
