WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has launched CVS Express Photo App, an online application that enables users of the social media site Facebook to order photo prints directly from their Facebook albums and pick them up in about an hour from a CVS store.

"Facebook has become a popular and easy way to share photos online with family and friends," Grant Pill, vice president of merchandising for CVS/pharmacy, said in a statement on Tuesday. "We introduced the CVS Express Photo App to give people the ability to print photos and share them offline with the same ease by picking them up at any CVS/pharmacy location in as little as an hour."

Customers can find the application on the CVS/pharmacy Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cvs. Once customers give permission for the application to access their account to retrieve photos, prints can be ordered in four steps: select photos, review cart, choose store and submit to print. Three photo print sizes are currently available through the application: 4×6, 5×7 and 8×10 prints.

CVS said the CVS Express Photo App was developed by Marketing Drive and that it simplifies the process of printing photos from Facebook albums. The application has been designed to alert users when an image doesn’t have a high enough resolution enough for clear print quality, which typically occurs with larger-size photo prints. To ensure high-quality prints, CVS/pharmacy recommends that customers use Facebook’s high-resolution uploader or reduce the print size.

CVS/pharmacy has more than 7,100 CVS/pharmacy and Longs Drug stores nationwide.
