FLINT, Mich. — Diplomat Pharmacy Inc. has hired former CVS Caremark executive Chris Luthin as executive vice president of finance for pharmacy benefit management and integration.

“Diplomat has built a talented executive team to support its transition to a broader health care company,” Luthin said in a statement. “By proactively helping partners handle changes in the market, we can empower them to make better pipeline decisions and make the pharmacy benefit more affordable and accessible. I’m proud to be part of this new chapter for the company.”

Luthin brings more than 25 years of health care and finance experience to Diplomat. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and chief operating officer at BioScrip Inc., an infusion and home care services provider. He was named COO in August 2015 after joining BioScrip in June.

Prior to BioScrip, Luthin held leadership roles at CVS Caremark from 1988 to 2010, including executive vice president of operations from 2006 to 2010. During his tenure at CVS, he led more than 8,000 employees and the integration of two acquired PBMs. And before that, he served as chief financial officer and executive vice president at Millennium Pharmacy Systems Inc., a long-term care pharmacy provider now part of PharMerica Corp.

“Chris is a seasoned health care leader who will reinforce our focus on PBM services,” commented Diplomat president Joel Saban. “Our managed markets strategy will benefit from his impressive track record managing merger integrations.”
