GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – Dollar General Corp. today announced nine appointments to leadership positions across its real estate, information technology, business intelligence, human resources, and store operations departments.
These are:
• Zak Brining, transitioning to senior vice president, real estate, where he will oversee Dollar General’s real estate team and guide strategies that support the company’s growth and long-term store portfolio needs.
Brining joined DG in 2016 and has held senior roles including senior vice president of corporate store operations. Prior to joining Dollar General, he gained more than 15 years of retail experience across store operations, finance and business intelligence.
• Tom Hutchins, transitioning to senior vice president, chief technology officer. Hutchins will be responsible for driving strategic planning and business integration initiatives while also expanding his oversight across key technology areas to further strengthen enterprise alignment, performance and delivery.
Prior to joining Dollar General in 2024, Hutchins spent 25 years in retail technology and application development at various Fortune 500 retailers.
• Travis Nixon, transitioning to senior vice president, chief data and artificial intelligence (AI) officer, leading Dollar General’s overall AI strategies and delivery functions, including all data engineering and enablement functions.
DG announced Nixon as the company’s newly established AI officer in November. With today’s appointment, he will continue to lead enterprisewide business process management initiatives, applying AI to identify and drive optimization opportunities across the retail value chain in areas such as merchandising, supply chain and store operations.
Nixon arrived at DG with more than a decade of experience in machine learning and AI from several public technology companies.
• Nick Snow is transitioning to senior vice president, corporate store operations, responsible for developing and partnering on the strategic implementation impacting Dollar General’s store operations, asset protection and store facilities management functions.
Snow has nearly 15 years of experience at Dollar General and a deep expertise spanning store operations, merchandising, pricing and advanced analytics. He most recently served as senior vice president, decision science and analytics, where he led enterprise analytics and insights that informed critical business decisions.
• Josh Allison was promoted to division vice president of store operations, where he will lead the operations for more than 2,400 Dollar General stores across the upper Midwest and Northern Plains.
Allison has more than two decades of experience at DG, beginning as a store manager and progressing through roles of increasing responsibility, including district manager of operations, regional director of operations and senior operations director. He will now focus on furthering strong store standards for employees and customers, talent strategy and driving excellence in sales.
• Vai Anand has been promoted to vice president, decision science and analytics, leading DG’s data science and analytics strategy.
Anand joining the company in 2021 as an experienced analytics and finance leader with deep expertise spanning data science, pricing, financial analytics and strategic analysis. Prior to joining Dollar General’s decision science team, he held leadership and analytics roles at retail, manufacturing, and financial services companies.
• Chelsea Beachy was promoted to vice president, field human resources (HR) and is responsible for executing Dollar General’s strategic HR vision in partnership with field operations.
She will support retail teams across the organization, including the company’s pOpshelf and Mi Súper Dollar General banners. Having joined DG in 2009, Beachy is an accomplished HR leader with extensive experience across training, benefits and compensation, talent management, organizational development, and field human resources. Most recently, she served as senior director, field HR operations where she supported Dollar General, pOpshelf and Mi Súper Dollar General field HR operations.
• Michael Czubik was promoted to vice president, store operations, where he will broaden his scope to support store operations, building on his deep expertise in workforce management and operational effectiveness to drive consistency, efficiency and improved experiences across Dollar General’s field operations.
Czubik is a strategic operations leader with nearly 20 years of retail experience, including extensive expertise in workforce management, labor optimization and store operations. He joined DG in 2019 and progressed through various leadership roles on the company’s work simplification and workforce management teams.
• Kevin Schoo, promoted to vice president, process improvement where he will direct the evaluation of key business processes to identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and profitability of Dollar General’s operations.
With nearly 15 years of experience at Dollar General, Schoo holds a strong background in demand planning, supply chain and store operations. He started at DG as a demand chain management analyst and advanced through leadership roles across demand planning and store operations, including his most recent role as senior director, store operations where he led initiatives focused on operational execution and process optimization.
