Dollar General announces new leadership appointments

13 executives are stepping into new or expanded roles.

Tom Hutchins and Kevin Pinchon have joined DG's leadership team as senior vice presidents.

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – Dollar General has made a series of leadership appointments to bolster its operational and strategic teams, with 13 executives stepping into new or expanded roles. Among the notable additions are Tom Hutchins and Kevin Pinchon, who will bring extensive expertise in technology and supply chain management, respectively, to senior leadership positions.

Tom Hutchins joins Dollar General as senior vice president of technology. He brings more than 25 years of IT and retail experience at Fortune 500 companies, including Office Depot and AutoZone. Most recently, he served as vice president of technology and strategy at Tractor Supply Company. Hutchins will oversee IT Business Integration and strategy and IT Operations and services, focusing on aligning business goals with technology strategies to drive innovation and efficiency.

Hutchins' expertise in application development and strategic planning positions him as a key player in enhancing Dollar General's technology infrastructure and customer engagement.

In his new role as senior vice president of distribution, Kevin Pinchon will oversee distribution center strategy and execution across eight states, including Georgia, Texas, and Virginia. He will also lead continuous improvement and quality control teams to ensure efficiency and operational excellence. Pinchon brings over 20 years of supply chain expertise, having held senior roles at Grainger and Target Corporation. Most recently, he served as vice president of global supply chain at HD Supply, where he managed a network of 80 distribution centers and over 100 shipping points nationwide.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin to DG’s supply chain team,” said Rod West, executive vice president of global supply chain. “His experience leading initiatives that positively impact service, safety, and efficiency aligns with our Back to Basics efforts.”

Pinchon’s leadership is expected to be critical in refining Dollar General's supply chain operations to support its growing footprint.

Dollar General also announced promotions and role expansions for several tenured employees:

Shawn Bartels has been promoted to division vice president of store operations and will be responsible for leading 10 regions across the Southeast. Bartels joined DG in 2018 as a regional director supporting Northwest Arkansas and Missouri. More recently, he served as senior director of store operations, overseeing the execution of program launches and serving as the direct liaison for field leadership. He has more than 20 years of operational retail expertise.

Brad Boll has been promoted to vice president of global inventory management—consumables. Since joining DG in 2022 as senior director of supply chain strategy and planning, Boll has supported footprint and network strategy, capital and expense management, strategic projects, and cost optimization. In 2023, he transitioned to the Global Inventory Management team, focusing on vendor collaboration and damage reduction strategy. In his new role, he will lead supply chain functions for the category, including inventory management, product fulfillment, and demand planning.

Lori Bremer has expanded her role and is now serving as DG’s vice president of talent management and inclusion. In addition to oversight of talent acquisition, employment branding and corporate communications, Bremer will now lead DG’s culture of inclusivity [where all employees and customers feel valued and supported]. She joined DG in 2009 and has held roles of increasing responsibility including senior recruiter, human resources senior manager, director of field human resources and senior director of training and organizational development.

Lee Buggs has been promoted to vice president, HR operations where his oversight of administrative services will be expanded to include HR shared services. With over 25 years in the U.S. Army, Buggs retired as a Green Beret in Special Operations before joining DG in 2021 as director of corporate security. Most recently, he served as senior director, HR admin services and during his tenure launched the executive protection program and oversaw multiple projects directly impacting the quality, efficiency and safety of the Company’s Store Support Center.

Jordan May has been promoted to vice president of inventory planning and strategy. In this role, he will oversee the development and execution of inventory strategies, ensure alignment with organizational goals, and drive operational excellence to optimize supply chain and merchandising efficiency and meet customer demands. May most recently served as senior director of inventory strategy, where he oversaw demand planning, store planning, reporting and analytics, and project management teams. He joined DG in 2020 and was responsible for perishable inventory across more than 18,000 stores.

Shareeka Meadows has transitioned to vice president, division merchandise manager (DMM), pOpshelf. In her new role, she will lead the merchandising strategy for pOpshelf’s unique assortment, including on-trend seasonal, home décor, and beauty must-haves. She has been at DG for 12 years through various merchandising roles, most recently as vice president, DMM, apparel, and stationery, where she planned, directed, and oversaw the selection and purchase of merchandise, including sales planning and pricing.

Misty Melton has joined the company as vice president of distribution. In her role, She will oversee distribution centers in Indiana, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Melton brings 20 years of distribution and transportation expertise. Most recently, she was a senior director of bulk distribution operations in the retail industry, where she was responsible for a network of 21 bulk appliance distribution centers.

Chelsea Morris has been promoted to vice president of transportation, where she will oversee domestic and international inbound operations. Morris joined Dollar General in 2016, where she has served as director of international transportation and senior analyst of outbound transportation. Most recently, she was senior director of international transportation, where she developed and executed comprehensive transportation strategies that aligned with DG’s operating priorities and supply chain objectives.

Tanner Owen has been promoted to vice president of financial planning and analysis, strategy, and corporate development. In this role, he will be responsible for the company's near-term and long-term financial planning and analysis, including refinement and development of business plans while supporting decisions to optimize company resources. Owen joined DG in 2016 as senior analyst of workforce management and has progressed to director roles in the finance department, most recently serving as Senior Director of strategy and Corporate Development.

Suman Pattnaik has been promoted to vice president of IT engineering. He joined DG in 2022 as senior director of engineering, merchandising, and supply chain, where his responsibilities included analyzing and leveraging emerging technology trends and applications to guide strategy. In his new role, Pattnaik will lead teams, manage vendor relations, assess risk, budget, and align strategies with the company’s broader business goals.

Troy Simpson has been promoted to vice president of corporate HR and modernization. In his new role, he will also lead the development and execution of DG’s corporate human resources strategy and initiatives. Simpson joined DG in 2007 as HR information systems manager and has since held roles supporting functions including field, supply chain, and corporate HR. Most recently, as senior director of HR modernization, he was responsible for leading the design and assessment of the company’s enterprise-wide HR operating model and technology solutions.
